Community foundation awards public health grants

The Washington County Community Foundation recently awarded grants from the Kansas Health Foundation Fund for Washington County. Funding was awarded to projects that promote and protect the health and well-being of Washington County residents.

The following organizations received funding:

  • USD 223, $1,401.04 to purchase materials for area preschools to implement a social and emotional well-being curriculum.
  • USD 108, $795 to purchase a refrigerator for the preschool classroom so students can enjoy healthy snacks of fruits, vegetables and dairy items from the local grocery store.
  • Hanover Hospital, $500 to purchase exercise equipment (DVDs, bands, balls and weights) for senior citizens who are staying at the Hanover Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed or living in the Hanover community.
